answering blog...

ZOMG... the first non-cryptic post from Ryan Adams' tumble blog! And, if you happen to be into Mr. Adams' work and the associated folklore, it's real interesting. The post in question offers full disclosure on pretty much all of the gossip that's haunted him over the last half decade or so. Some choice learnings:

he never kicked anyone out of a show! (huh?)

he never took drugs/booze when he wrote! (huh?)

he hates country music! (huh?)

Lots, lots, lots more here.

I'm kinda fascinated by his blog, it's such a free-form mess of random content that borders on the edge of being an unreadable livejournal. But following it on tumblr is too easy and so even if you're not really paying attention to him, you're paying attention to him. It's actually really good from a (viral?) marketing perspective, though I doubt that's his intent. The few snippets of actual demos for his new solo and Cardinals albums (which are posted for about a day and then removed) sound promising.

no books... [updated]

JOY! It appears that the nonstuff podcast has come back from the dead.

As I've mentioned before, hands down this is the best podcast on the interwebnet as we know it. It's a short weekly mix of indie/alternative/whatever songs, most of which vary in obscurity. Or at least, these dudes aren't posting from the same pool of songs most other music blogs do. There's variety, there's something unique going on. It feels like a really well done college radio show... minus the awkward college kid banter, of course. Get up on it.

BOO! Hey, you going to that Ryan Adams show at The Orpheum on ~~Saturday~~ Sunday? You're most likely screwed. Quinn's reporting that the building will be shut down because of the city strike. There's talk of moving the venue, ~~but no official work has come out from HOB or ryan-adams.com. Your plan B: get out there an see some local bands tear it up at your bar of choice.~~

UPDATE: It's officially been moved to the Commodore. Doors at 7, show at 8. General admission. Aren't you glad you paid extra for floor seats.

ryan adams vancouver presale...

Ryan Adams is playing at the Orpheum Theatre on July 28th.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, however, there's a presale starting tomorrow at noon.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this show is going to be amazing and a far cry from the clusterfuck which was his 2005 show at the Commodore. I mean, the guy's sober(ish) now, he's got a good/tight album coming out, and the venue is fantastic.

With that said, I won't be able to go... 'cause of prior arrangement with Robots. Boo?
